Education in Biology
There can be no doubt about the revolution that has taken place in the life sciences and their applications. The change of scale in the knowledge that we have to deal with and develop means that we have to use new technologies heavily based on the engineering sciences, such as I.T., chemistry, optics, etc...
École Polytechnique students have the opportunity to follow a diversified program of biology tuition that is often combined with other scientific domains at the École, which gives them the best form of preparation for these changes and the resulting new professions. The teaching in the biology department is based on research activities in two laboratories: the Biochemistry laboratory and the Optics and Biosciences laboratory. As a result of these activities, the École is recognised as a key player in life science research. It leads to the development of multidisciplinary programs in collaboration with other teaching and research departments in the École. A number of jointly-organised tuition courses form part of this interdisciplinary framework.
